  18.      DIALOG  is  one  of the  largest  online  databases.  DIALOG
  19. currently  provides  access  to over 250 databases  containing  a
  20. total  of over  100  Million  records.  The  range of information
  21. available is enormous.

  24. BEGIN:
  25.      The  BEGIN  command starts a search and tells  Dialog  which
  26. database you want it to check out.  The BEGIN command is followed
  27. (without  a  space) by the file number of the database you  want.
  28. Either  of  the following ways could get you into  the  file  229
  29. (Drug information):

  35.      Dialog will then put the date,  the time,  your user number,
  36. and what it costs for  the  database you just left.  For example,
  37. if you move from ERIC (file 1)  to Management  Contents (file 75)

  54. EXPAND:
  55.      The  EXPAND  command is used to pick keywords for a  search.
  56. You  can search for any word;  but knowing how common a  word  is
  57. gives you a good idea where to start your search.

  59.      All databases have a index of searchable words.  You can see
  60. if there are any words of the same spelling to a keyword you want
  61. to search for. For example:

  76.      The  word  -more- at  the bottom of the  screen  means  that

  80.      When  you find the word you want to search for,  you use the
  81. SELECT  command  to  tell the database what to  search  for.  The
  82. SELECT command can be followed with one or more search terms.

  85.      The  SELECT STEP command works just like the SELECT command,
  86. except the files it finds are listed separately.

  101. TYPE and DISPLAY:
  102.      There are two commands, TYPE and DISPLAY, that you  can  use
  103. to look over the information you have found.   The  difference is
  104. the TYPE command causes a non-stop list of  the information.  The
  105. DISPLAY lets the information to list a page at a time,  you  have
  106. to type PAGE or P to see the next page.
  107.  
  108.      DIALOG offers nine formats to display retrieved files.

  267. mark  (?).  The  first  command  you will want is to  move  to  a
  268. database.  This is done by typing B(no space) and a the  database
  269. number.
